On Thursday 4th October it was National Poetry Day and the children of Hill View School were set a poetry challenge. Within their classes they had the opportunity to learn some new poems; innovate their own versions of these poems or create their own. The main aim was to eventually be able to perform them. The children then competed within classes and were then put through to our Grand Final!
This final took place on the 18th October, just 2 weeks after the challenge was set. The children had created some fantastic poems with amazing language, rhythm and rhyme. Our five finalists performed these poems confidently thinking about expression, volume and actions. Some even managed to recite their poems by heart.
We are very proud of all our finalists as they did an amazing job and made the judges decisions almost impossible. However, after much deliberation they decided on the winner who was Oscar Large with a fantastic, scientific poem to do with changing states. Runner ups Connie Jackson and Jenson Iles also performed wonderful poems and a huge well done must go to all our finalists!
