On Tuesday this week, 20 lucky Year 5 pupils had a fantastic
opportunity to visit Parkfield School for an exciting aeronautical
experience. Manson J has written a short report from the trip:

“Once we arrived at Parkfield School, we got onto one of the
airport buses and drove down the runway at Bournemouth Airport
to the plane. It was no ordinary plane as it was a flying laboratory.
The plane was from Cranfield University and its registration
number was G-NFLB.

There were twenty of us who visited and we were split into two
groups. The first group went inside the plane and learnt how the
pilots fly the plane. We even got to sit in the cockpit, where the
pilots sit. The other group were outside of the plane on the runway,
as they were learning about all of the parts on the outside of the
plane that make it work. After 15 minutes each group swapped
over.

Two facts that I learnt were:
I learnt that the plane can fly on only one engine even though it has
two.
The plane has thick armour around the engine so that nothing can
damage the outside of the plane. “
